concept bike image Images courtesy of Edward Kim I'm not someone who usually goes gaga over bike designs, especially concept bikes. I like simple and sleek, and a little vintage flare doesn't hurt. But this concept by Edward Kim and Benny Cemoli is undeniably intriguing -- not only because it's an electric bike but because it just looks almost like a bare-bones motorcycle. ...Read the full story on TreeHugger

not in bike lane image Image via YouTube screengrab Casey Neistat was ticketed for not riding in the bike lane in New York City and had to pay a $50 fine. It brings up an important issue about how cities need to keep bike lanes safe if they're to require cyclists to ride only within the narrow white lines. Somehow, running into the obstacles rather than just pointing them out makes the problem a lot more apparent. And the last scene of the video...well that just brings it all full circle. ...Read the full story on TreeHugger

But in light of some rather gloomy statistics about who's actually getting on bikes in a recent report by John Pucher and Ralph Buehler, we thought it might be great to highlight some of the most effective ways out there to more men, and also more women and more children riding. And it's not all about money, though some of the most effective methods do come down to dollars and sense. ...Read the full story on TreeHugger

Guys On Bikes photo Photo credit Takver via flickr and Creative Commons license. Yes, there is a bicycling renaissance in North America, say authors and researchers John Pucher and Ralph Buehler. It's not an equal opportunity cycling revolution, however, nor is it evenly spread - as the cyclists of America's less friendly cycling areas may have already intuited. Worst of all, to a cyclist like me, intrigued with getting more women to ride, is what the data shows in terms of g...Read the full story on TreeHugger
