Tim DeChristopher, 29, the courageous activist who
posed as an oil industry bidder to monkeywrench an oil and gas lease sale in Utah, was sentenced this afternoon to two years in prison. "Mr. DeChristopher had many other lawful ways to express his disapproval with the oil and gas leasing process," said U.S. District Court Judge Dee Benson at the hearing.

Last weekend I experienced what was for me the greenest music festival so far. And not only because at
Rock-A-Field in Luxembourg you actually get to rock a lush green field surrounded by dense forest. The organisers of RAF also set an example of how to lower the environmental impact of 18,000-plus festival goers and 15 bands (amongst which
Arcade Fire and the
Arctic Monkeys) without s...

Last October, as the result of some savvy campaigining from my friends at
350.org, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu announced that the White House would "lead by example" by installing solar panels by the start of the 2011 summer. With one week until summer officially kicks off, the White House has yet to make it good on its commitment. 350.org is putting together another push to get the Obama Administration over the finish line and it needs your help.

My first day in India for
World Environment Day felt like my first day in high school--minus the braces and far less acne. Today felt something like an orientation about deforestation specifically in India and what's being done to stop it, or at least what

Alright, staying at home and
listing to music online would have much less impact on the planet, no doubt, but there is something about some 100.000 people getting together during 3 days to enjoy the latest (and not so latest; Pulp and Nick Cave are playing!) the music world has to offer. Hard to miss at

The
Indignados (or "Outraged") have been camping in over 60 Spanish cities for almost 10 days now. What started on the 15th of May (hence the tag #15-M) via social networks has become some of the biggest and most peaceful demonstrations in recent Spain, known as the
2011 Spanish Revolution. The indignation is against the current political situation ; the young (and not so young) Spaniards together with residents from Spain demand
